Sharks leaving Jacksonville?

Just stumbled into this article and didn't see anything posted yet. Not sure if this is a done deal or not, but how do you feel about this? Any regular attendees of Sharks home games on this board? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I thought that this story may have been some unfounded rumor but then I came across this on news4jax:
Quote:Sharks officials had no comment on the potential rock star partnership other than to say they were working on an announcement regarding the team in the next few days. I don't want the Sharks to move ![]()
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."
Sharks were fun.... Hope he doesn't move them... Hopefully this dude doesnt really think he smarter than every other person who tryed to put a sports team in vegas.....Vegas is a stupid place for a professional( semi pro) sports team... There is a reason one doesn't exist there...only thing Vegas is good for is ppv fights... And they are starting to suck at that.
I heard something about this over the weekend. From what I understand, he is looking at an expansion team more than buying the Sharks. I have not heard anything about Bouchy selling the team. The Sharks are one of the more successful teams in the league and I don't think they are going anywhere.

I think if the Arena League were intelligent they would keep Vegas out of it's league for obvious reasons., but I am not sure that they care much about the ramifications surrounding that issue. MMA and boxing have found that they can do very well away from the lights and glitz of Vegas too.

Sounds like to me that he wants to learn the in's and out's of the business and then will try and get a team for Vegas. I really doubt the Sharks are moving out of Jacksonville.
As for Vegas. It is a tourist town. And even a good amount of the residents are transplants. Pro sports is a hard sell there. Quote:I agree with every point. I agree completely with this as well. The glamour of Vegas isn't needed.
My son and I used to go to every game prior to their championship. We'd have great seats in the club for ~ $40 each per game. Once they won the title they jacked up their price and we only went to 1 game since -- that just happened to be when we got bored at the Jags scrimmage game last year. We walked over and picked ups a few tix for $10 each.
I like the Sharks and their games are a lot of fun...I'm going to sound old, but it's too loud. I think they are good for the city and give people something to do during the Jags offseason.
I always like their facebook/twitter fans that always compare them to the Jags and how they are so much better. It's a good laugh. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I dont really care for them like the jags and I've never attended a game nor do I watch them on tv, but I dont want them to move.

Care for them like the Jags, no, not even close. Would I want them to move, nah, but I wouldn't say I'd do anything less then say "aww shucks" if it happened.

I really doubt the Sharks are moving out of Jacksonville. That's the way I read the article as well. I never took it as interest in moving this one, just adding a new one. Buys into Jax to learn the business, then sells his share to build his own team in Vegas if he decides to.

Quote:I dont really care for them like the jags and I've never attended a game nor do I watch them on tv, but I dont want them to move. Then why wold you even care? It wouldn't affect you at all. Probably a big reason they are leaving is that there are too many people who share your feelings. I may be one of them. I have never been to a game. Because of that, I don't think I have any real voice in keeping them around. I think a lot of people will eventually miss the option once the NFL becomes priced out of the normal person's budget. That day is coming, and by all accounts, coming fast.

<shrugs>
That wasn't in the article I did read earlier, nor was it part of the discussion I heard on the radio. My bad. All I had heard was a "stake" and an upcoming announcement. This league is about the money (or rather, lack thereof) more than any other. If he can make more money moving it, it will go.

The owner came out and said those articles are incorrect.

The Sharks quickly went out and did damage control after articles started to imply the team was moving. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I think it was a bad move putting games on ESPN3. I liked when they broadcast at least the homes game on a local tv channel.
I just can't get excited to go to a game without seeing them on tv first. |
