If Caldwell and Bradley complain loudly enough to Khan, and other GMs/coaches do the same with their owners, it will change.

In many instances, he does work in a vacuum. 

 

It's not a stretch to think his mandate would be enough to change when the draft happens.  He doesn't have to cede to the wishes of the GMs or coaches.  He'll be more than willing to do so with the owners, but even then it's not a given.  If he has some reason to justify leaving it in May, I could see it staying put.  That being said, he's already made some indication that this will be revisited.  Not only the dates, but the venue as well.
