When you drink a protein shake, are you affected immediately by its consumption? No. I think there's a serious aid to recovery and conditioning, so I don't think there's a place for it in the NFL. The purpose of these banned substances is to A.) protect the athlete's health, B.) prevent unfair advantage, or C.) maintain the spirit of the sport. If it isn't helping the athlete, then it's hurting the athlete. Either way, the NFL has a valid reason to keep it banned.
