LOL.....Suddenly I'm reminded of similar comments made about 2-3 years ago when people scoffed at trading MoJo.....

 

People like you would scoff at the idea of trading ANY player, unless the player clearly had no value at all to the team and thus of course, couldn't net any return value in a trade, either. 

 

People like you miss the bigger picture. 

 

So you want to sign Cecil to a long term contract (that will be pricey; you're not getting him long term, cheap)....when in a year or 2 at the most, he's going to likely be finding PT scarce when Lee and Robinson are well into their ascent, combined with likely improvement/ further involvement from Sanders. Then of course, trading Shorts AT THAT TIME because of a more expensive contract, will prove tougher, if not impossible, and we'll be forced to either keep him on the roster at the bloated contract despite there not being enough footballs to go around.....or cut him and get nothing.....

 

Thats just brilliant and forward thinking, jenius'es... 

 

If you are going to try and get something for Shorts, this will be the opportune time. (between now and the trade deadline)
