FBT, c'mon...you're no NFL novice you know how these things work....when players come off of their initial rookie deals and are around Cecils current age, and they are seen as starters, they want the big money/ long term deal. They always cite "security" or other rhetoric. 

 

Given the contracts handed out this free agency period to WR, I'm going to guess that Cecil's agent is going to be looking for 5 MIL per year minimum, maybe 6, and at a length of 4 to 5 years contract. They'll likely seek guaranteed money in the neighborhood of 13 MIL. 

 

As said, thats just too much for a WR that by the time a calendar year rolls around, he's not going to have trouble getting onto the field for snaps ahead of Lee/ Robinson/ Sanders. 

 

Paying that kind of money for a WR4 is just not smart, IMO. 

 

You've gotta project here and not just think for the "now".

With me, its not so much the per year dollars that I'm worried about as I am the contract length (guaranteed money). I'd give Cecil a one year extension to his current deal and pay him 5 MIL for that and thats it. (doubt his agent would take that) As said, by that time (2015) Cecil will likely be hard pressed to find many snaps.
