Lewis himself explained the reasoning. It makes sense. The team isn't going to reach out to Jimmy Smith. Talk about Blackmon saying "who is this guy?" Jimmy Smith is just a name to Blackmon. Lewis is a teammate. Big difference.
 

I'd figure Jimmy would actually carry some cred on the issue since he's literally actually been there, in addition to having the respect of Blackmon due to what Smith accomplished at his same on-field position in the NFL.
