In domestic leagues, like the MLS, typically do not give a suspension until 3 or 5 cumulative yellow cards. Depends on the league.


In the US, high school doesn't do this at all. I think college does after 5, but none of my teams have ever had players get even close so idk for sure.

 

And any yellow card you have gets expunged after the quarter finals. So if you get a yellow now and another in the quarterfinal you are suspended for the semifinal. Get a yellow now and another in the semifinal; the first yellow was expunged after the quarterfinal and you won't be suspended for the final or third place game.

 

Also suspension do carry over to the next international match. So if someone gets sent off in the round of 16 and their team loses, they have to sit out the next game of their national team.
