Again, baseball was invented in the United States. The fact that the idea came from a game in England played without gloves, with an 18 inch stick, where the batter must run whether they hit the ball or not does not change that fact. Does the first person to ever kick a ball get credit for inventing soccer? No. Likewise, the inventors of Rounders and/or Cricket do not get credit for the invention of baseball. Baseball is not Rounders or Cricket.

 

Baseball and cricket share a common ancestor in a game that is more akin to rounders than either baseball or cricket. Just like football, soccer and rugby all share a common ancestor as well. All these sports originated in Europe and evolved differently in different parts of the world. For example; football legalized the forward pass, while rugby never did.

 

Basketball is the only major sport which was not only developed in America but didn't actually have a European sport it was based on.
