Quote:1845 was when those changes were codified. Most likely they had been enforced informally for years beforehand before someone thought of the clever idea of writing them down. Much like how the "Laws of the Game" were codified for soccer in 1863 in England. Again, the Knickerbocker rules were not "additions" or "ammendments" to rounders. It was a new game. I've cited several reputable sources stating this. There are a number of books out there that dive into this a lot deeper and I suggest you read one. |
