The facts remain the same; baseball and cricket evolved from a game that is more similar to rounders than either baseball or cricket. Baseball's modern rules were first codified in 1845 in the US. Most likely these rules had been created years earlier as additions to the game that was already being played which originated from Europe.

 

The only sport that was developed solely in North America is basketball.
