It good that the Jags get the cap savings even if they don't collect.


 

My point was that from Blackmon's view, whether or not they actually collect is VERY relevant. If Blackmon informs the Jags that he no longer wants to play, they can freeze his bank accounts and proceed immediately to demand reimbursement. If Blackmon doesn't inform the Jags, he gets to keep spending that money until the Jags finally decide to give up on him, which may buy him many months of access to the remains of the signing bonus.
