There wasn't an outcry when Collins didn't play as a Net. There wasn't an outcry when Collins wasn't brought back by the Nets. There is no difference here. While the mainstream media will try and play this story out and those who were against Sam will continue to eat it up, those who supported Sam get what he's doing.

 

For what it's worth,  Jason Collins was signed to one or two 10 day contracts with the Brooklyn Nets.   Most of the time,  those are temporary roster moves,  not ones in which a player is expected to be a key part ( or even close to a team. ).   Coupling the fact that Collins will be 36 later this year and he's talked about retirement,  I don't think most people realistically thought he would remain with Brooklyn for the full 2014-15 season.
