I think the QB situation is unique in the fact that Henne understands very clearly what his role is on this team.  He understands that he's basically keeping the seat warm until Bortles is ready to go.  The QB competition is between Bortles, the playbook, and his mechanics.  It's not between Bortles and Henne.  I think Gus understands this, and that his credibility is completely intact. 

 

The only way I can see Henne's performance impacting the switch is if Chad goes out there and plays lights out, and the team hits the ground running and winning.  At that point, you let the hot hand go, and Bortles gets to sit back and watch.  Do I think that will happen?  Not likely.  We'll get the same Henne mediocrity, and the transition will wind up being a quiet one.
