ESPN is becoming less and less of a sports show all the time.  It's borderline unwatchable.

 

They ran a segment on how Michael Sam showers...that's sports to you?

 

They also ran segments on how Johnny Manziel spends his time off the field. That offend you?

 

Really what this all comes back to is a lot of bigots still angry that their bigoted view is becoming less and less accepted by society at large, and the backlash from those who want to feel justified in their bigotry are exhibiting.

 

Michael Sam is a special player, he's going to get special coverage because of it, that's what sports media is for, covering the exceptional, not the mundane. Never before has there been a gay player (and there have been hundreds of them, no doubt) brave enough to actually live the life they should be allowed to live.

 

The real shame in all of this isn't Michael Sam's success so far in the league, or the coverage he's gotten, the real shame is the bigotry that's been exposed so far in the NFL's fanship.
