Jags predicted "under the radar" to make playoffs

(This post was last modified: 09-04-2014, 02:11 AM by Scarecrow.)

Quote:Meh, I think folks focus too much on his first half of last season and perhaps hold that impression (to a fault.)

He was pretty efficient the second half of the year, and has pleased the coaches so far with his efficiency in the system.

He's certainly not the hot garbage we've had in the past.  Going by the numbers, he's got us back to the Garrard years prior to his tanking.  Yes, we deserve better than that.  But that's taken care of, too as Bortles is the guy of the future.

I have zero doubt it's possible Henne could get this team into the playoffs with our division as bad as it is.  Worse QBs have.  Does that necessarily make us contenders?  No.  But it does bode well for the next few years, when we'll probably be labeled contenders as early as next year.

Efficient by his standards maybe but not by starting QB standards.  My count has him with 10 TDs and 9 INTs the last half.  Yes that's the majority of his TDs but that's also the majority of his INTs.  He had the same completion percentage in half 1 and half 2, barely 60%.

He averaged more yards a game in the first half of the season.

He was consistently poor throughout the season.  He had a few highs in areas followed by lows.  He's been that way for years and he's not suddenly going to change now barring some miracle.  Henne is what he is, a solid backup QB.

How is Henne any better than what we've had?  You could argue Gabbert but other than that?  He's at best equal but I would take David Garrard over Chad Henne any day.

Don't get me wrong, I don't have any problem with Chad and appreciate him here.  However he's simply being asked to do more than he's capable of doing well.  He's a guy that fits being on the bench, in the meeting rooms, as a backup QB.  Which he will be here soon enough.

I don't care what way you slice it, Henne is not a good starting QB.  Numbers or otherwise.
