Second, part of the reason Tebow might have not been a consideration for teams is because of the media circus that went along with him.  Yes part of that media circus might have been associated with his play on the field (or lack thereof... see "Johnny Football").  However, there was even a phrase associated with him (tebowing) that had absolutely nothing to do with his play on the field.

 

And yet he still was drafted in the first round and got years in the league and multiple opportunities in spite of being the only QB in the league worse than Gabbert. To assert that his experience somehow parallels Sam's is a joke.


 

Finally, what "respect" around the league does his "abilities" merit?  The fact that he was able to record a couple of sacks in preseason against opposing teams playing personnel that are probably not on a roster?

 

The respect that comes with producing when your number is called. Plenty of guys don't have any impact in preseason games at all. That Sam had impact but still was ignored by teams around the league, even as a developmental prospect speaks volumes.


 

The bottom line is, he is just not good enough to be an NFL player.

 

That might be the case, but at least now he'll have a chance to succeed as a part of America's Team instead of being simply tossed aside due to engrained bias.
