You don't have to abuse your child to teach them how to not lie, be responsible, do their homework, not back talk, etc... as a society we should strive to be better. People get called on for spanking their child in the rear one time as well. When I think of child abuse, I think of children's bones, limbs being broken along with being starved to death and sexually assaulted.
Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.
