I've heard about this.  When I get a new laptop it's likely to have Windows 10 so that would be nice.  Taskbar has been a huge issue for me with Windows.  I've tried every configuration.  For the longest time I had it on the bottom of the screen, usually 3 or 4 rows high with autohide, but ultimately it was just too inconsistent (It wouldn't always hide and wouldn't always show).  Plus it quickly became hard to even know what window you were clicking on.  Right now I have it at the left of the screen without autohide and small icon which seems to work the best.   I can read what every window is and select them easily.  But if you go over about 20 windows there is a scrollbar and hell breaks loose.  

 

I'm talking about Windows 7 by the way,  I don't even know how Window 8 handled this.
