Bortles Aggresiveness
|
Quote:NYC those images don't lie, but we are constantly hearing people compare him to Luck, Big Ben, and Manning. Did Andrew Luck miss those throws his rookie year? Those images just show a few decoys. Not sure what they "aren't lying" about. Bortles still was going short with those passes the whole time, barring anything less than the DB literally falling down and leaving Hurns wide open. Thats what IMO that Fisch wants these past 6 Q. The difference is Manning, Big Ben et al, were encouraged to continue making those deep throws downfield regularly and if an INT happened, so what. Manning threw almost 30 INT's his rookie year. But it didn't matter, because what was important was Peyton getting comfotable with that type of throw and developing cohesion with his WR's on intermediate/ deeper plays. Repetitions is the most important thing for a rookie QB. Fisch and Bradley are likely overreacting to some of the deeper INT's that Blake has thrown early on here, so thats why you are seeing the sudden shift these past six Q to a Henne-like short pass attack mostly. They need to understand that Blake needs to keep throwing those longer passes until they start getting it right. Thats the only way it will improve. Avoiding them doesn't. |
