Anyone recommend an AC company?

If you need an evaporator coil it's because you have a leak. This usually occurs where the copper tubing penetrates the aluminum fins because of galvanic corrosion (disimilar metals). You can attempt to use some stop leak freon but most companies don't want to use that because of warranty issues.
Replacing the evaporator coil completely is quite extensive and that price sounds about right. If your condensing unit is fairly new then it's worth it to replace the evaporator coils, if not, then you might be better to replace the entire system for about $5k. This will upgrade your entire HVAC system which will save you a lot of money in energy costs. (My friend just replaced his and his electricity bill went from $400 per month to $170) I would not use Chaddock. Period. I used Tom Chaddock for years until I discovered he was overcharging me for parts not installed and labor not performed. I have written documentation on this, and a lawsuit to prove it. I have been very satisfied lately with Bill Lee's. In my business I have 18 refrigeration and A/C units. He has been very fair in all of his service. Regards....the Chiefjag |
