I think what we are seeing though is more of a backlash towards the SEC.  You hear fans chant it and constantly talk about how great the SEC was/is.  Same thing with tebow.  I think we are seeing fans rooting for the ACC simply because of SEC arrogance.  

If you can't hope that UF goes 11-0 until rivalry week, then beat them, because it only helps your standing nationally and in the playoff (or BCS picture) then I don't know you can ever understand it. It is a means to an end. It is simple.

 

You want FSU to win a national title? Why not root for the best possible way for them to do so. A strong ACC means a strong/er FSU, and a stronger ACC/FSU gives them a smoother road to the playoffs. Instead of wondering why FSU keeps dropping in the playoff picture over the weeks, they'd probably still be #1 with a stronger conference, an undefeated Florida, etc.

 

Instead of wondering if FSU will be kept out of the playoff with a loss, they can rest easy and know that wouldn't be the case with a better conference/schedule. The SEC didn't have to worry about that.
