Mularkey was a very special case. He was likely to be fired if he hadn't been picked up as a head coach.

 

I don't know that I'm ready to replace Fisch, because I don't think it's fair to fire a guy that's been stuck with a bunch of rookies and/or scrubs to date. It's not Fisch's fault that Toby Gerhart couldn't hit a hole the size of a barn door. He deserves one last shake.

 

That said, I would be in favor of hiring Roman as a well-paid assistant head coach/QBs. He's a proven QB coach (outside of Kaepernick, who's been figured out and is incapable of adjusting his game to compensate) who could help Bortles along nicely, and he's a ready-made candidate to replace Fisch at some point next season if the offense remains stagnant despite better talent.
