They're two different kinds of Defensive players. Barr goes 6'4 250 and ran a 4.47 earlier this spring. He is more of your 3-4 OLB type, who can do it all. Drop into coverage, put his hand on the ground and stand up. He has covered RBs and TEs while at UCLA. He can rush the passer and is good in the run game. He's already so good, but hes still so raw at the position. Who knows how high his ceiling is.

 

Clowney is more of your pure 4-3 DE. He's going to put his hand in the dirt and go forward.

 

I wouldn't have a problem if we got Clowney (if we couldn't get Bridgewater), don't get me wrong. I'm just saying, if you're looking at the height/weight/speed of what Gus is looking for at his LEO position, then Barr fits that perfectly. All you gotta do is watch him play.
