Jags have to lose

I love how people seem to think that we need more/higher draft picks to turn the record around... especially considering how many rookies are starting/playing in key positions this season. This next draft isn't about drafting players to fill an immediate need, it's more about drafting players for depth.
For immediate needs, free agency is far more important than the draft. The only thing that draft picks get the team is possible trade value for a veteran that can fill an immediate need. A team needs to want to trade up in the draft, and in order to do so they have to be willing to trade a player that can fill a need. While yes, draft selection higher up does give some leverage, I would rather see the team play out the season and gain valuable experience rather than focus on draft picks. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those who don't. |
