Jack Del Rio emerges as a head-coaching candidate in Oakland

#34

Quote:The best thing I can say about Del Rio is his teams were never intimidated by the best teams. He led his team into Green Bay, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, New York and beat some pretty good teams. Usually with an inferior roster. But on the flip side, his team lost too many games where they were playing lesser teams and had alot at stake. Houston game at home in 2004 is the prime example. Also at Tennessee in 2006 and Washington at home in 2010. Four times his team went into the final month of the season with a chance to make the playoffs.and just fell apart. And while his Jaguars usually went toe to toe with Peyton and the Colts, he struggled against some really mediocre Houston teams.

Just being a playoff contender in December would be a huge improvement in Oakland. If he gets the Raiders job and they do the same thing, everybody will say he is a great coach because that is much better than they were the last decade.
