Not in this case. And that was made very clear at the time.

You might prefer to take a mediocre player who's ready to start now over a great one who needs to mature for a year before they can contribute; not everyone will agree with this. Of course, there's a higher risk to that approach, but it gives you much more access to high talent players if it comes off.
