Del Rio did quit on the team, but I think that was the result of all the uncertainty surrounding the franchise at the time.  Between relocation talks, and the lack of a succession plan for the Weavers, coupled with all of the organizational penny pinching that was going on (not necessarily just on the field, but on the business side as well), it would be hard to stay motivated, especially for a guy who felt his star was potentially bigger than the market he was in.

 

Jack lost the locker room because he went from being a player's coach to a guy who needed to rule with a heavy hand.  Nobody took him seriously, especially when he started calling out guys who were there specifically to be leaders in the locker room.  When those guys wound up in Jack's dog house, they didn't escape it, and wound up former Jaguars at the earliest possible opportunity. 

 

I'm sure he's learned from his mistakes here, and that if he's able to get another opportunity to run a team, things will be markedly different.  I believe he's a good coach who deserves another chance.  Oakland would be a good fit for him.
