Meriweather Suspended For Hits, Says "He'll Have To Take Players' Knees Out"

#6

Quote:Merriweather is a "dirty" hitter, intentional or not. However, I do agree that the NFL is taking it too far. You can't go low, you can't go high, I mean we are inching towards two-hand touch football.

I feel you're going from one extreme to the other. There are other ways to tackle someone. Especially a player who is in the air. Leading in with a helmet shot to the neck up should be unacceptable to players in vulnerable situations. Tackle with your body/arms like they were taught since day one. I personally don't feel the NFL is taking it too far on the helmet hits like Merriweather is delivering.  Considering the NFL is the one responsible with lawsuits for the players actions and not the player making the tackle. I understand the fans including myself don't want the game to soften up. But you have to protect defenseless players at the same time.
