I think there's a lot of animosity on Blaine Gabbert from Jaguars fans, and rightfully so. However, I think its going overboard to the point that some even claim he showed zero potential. That's not true. Blaine showed plenty of potential in one regard: arm talent. There were quite a few throws that he's made in his career that only top QBs make in the NFL.

 

The problem is he didn't do it consistently.

 

His pocket presence is terrible. I think he needs to be in a quick-read offense (spread maybe).

 

For all intents and purposes, I think he was very coachable...to a fault.

 

The talent is there. It's just a matter of whether any QB coach, OC, or system can harness it out of him.

 

Off note also...with all the mess he had in Jacksonville around him (coaching, ownership changes, bad teams), other than fixing his footwork (which he did do from year 1 to year 2), he actually regressed from that point on. For all intents and purposes, and perhaps he never had the mental make-up to be a good QB anyway, but his situation in Jax ruined him.
