As long as a gm can draft well he shouldn't have to strip a team down to pure trash just to get better. You don't have to be in the top three of the draft to get good players if you do the research and pick the right players. Apparently Caldwell thinks that you must devoid the team of all proven talent to do just that. You could've kept Smith and found the younger replacement to him in this upcoming draft that's better. Bringing in Geno Hayes is a clear downgrade at the position and makes the team worse.
