Coughlin signed Bryce Paup in free agency.

 

Paup was a pass rushing OLB who Coughlin and Jauron inexplicably used as a coverage LB and very little in blitzing.

 

Andy Reid was a pretty good coach and signed Nnamdi Asomugha (sp)-a man CB, and played him in zone.

 

Sciano may well be a bad coach.  The Bucs may well be tanking.

 

But sometimes coaches do weird things with personnel.

 

That said, this seems to be a move in the right direction for Schiano, and hopefully it'll lead to some Bucs wins really soon.

 

 

Good post Bullseye, I remember being so frustrated at the usage of Bryce when we acquired him. It was like forcing a square peg into a round hole. Coughlin was such a good coach that I never understood why he mismanaged that particular piece of personnel so bad. 

 

We all saw that Paup is/ was better suited for a 3-4 pass rushing OLB at that time.
