I guess this involves a certain level of courage, but is it on par with being awarded something that has gone to those battling terrible diseases like cancer, or to someone like Nelson Mandela?  Methinks there might be a wee bit of pandering going on here.  I'm not sure how, beyond just coming out and announcing he was transitioning, courage plays into this.  The guy is doing this entire transformation in front of cameras that will document his life for a new reality show.  He's just becoming his own Kardashian at the end of the day.  I think that diminishes some of the 'courage' factor.

 

Don't get me wrong.  I think Jenner is a genuinely decent person, and that he's had to live with this his entire adult life.  I just don't see it on the same level as others who have received this award, and what they received it for.
