It's a coaching internship, basically. It's not designed to last beyond training camp or result in an offer for full-time employment starting in week one. It's supposed to grant experience and exposure. Lots of coaches have gone through this program, and most of them don't end up as a pro position coach, but having "Assistant linebackers coach/intern for the Arizona Cardinals" on your resume will get you a few extra looks.
