The thing about play-calling is, if the plays work, people think it was good play calling. If they don't work, people blame the play-caller. As if a different play would have worked better, when usually it's just execution that makes a play work or not work.
Besides, in preseason, you call plays for the purpose of evaluating players. A lot of times, in preseason, you call plays you wouldn't call in the regular season. For a guy in the stands to evaluate the play calling, when they have no idea what play was called and whether it failed due to execution or "bad strategy" is kind of ridiculous. |
