He's 33. Any other position, I'd agree with you, but 33 is in a specialist's prime. If Scobee was 36, 37 or older and coming off multiple down years, I'd agree entirely with the "keep Myers" crowd, but he's not. He's coming off of one bad year in which his blocking was only marginally more effective than five stop signs placed on the field in front of him, and several outstanding years before that. A steady, cool-footed kicker could win a couple of games for the Jaguars this year, maybe even be more important than that. I mean, does everyone remember how difficult it was to find a successor to Mike Hollis? Scobee is better than Hollis ever was, imo, and to give up on an excellent, proven kicker in his prime to gamble on a rookie with a big leg (cough--Hayden Epstein--cough) seems foolish at this point in the team's development. If we were going to break in a rookie kicker who couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in college, we should have done in in 2013.
