Were there some plays like that? Yes, but his most impressive plays were ALWAYS on called bootlegs or darts from the pocket. I can see people are giving into the narrative that Bortles was bad last regular season and therefore what we saw in the preseason was a fluke, therefore going by that logic the only way to justify that is by saying last preseason Bortles did a lot of his damage through sandlot football rather than conventional QB play. NO. The thing we were raving about last preseason is just how comfortable Bortles looked as a QB, this idea that he was playing sandlot football 75% of time or something is some made up crap by insecure fans.


The truth of the matter is Bortles was NOT as bad as people have been making out last season and there was a clear divide in his play from before the bye week to after the bye week. Fans should not feel the need to be insecure about the way Bortles played last season and come up with make believe ways to justify why this preseason is more real than last year's because he's not playing sandlot football or some crap.
