They are going to stretch the secondary deep. Very deep with a ton of speed. You have to respect that or Cam launches it over the head of the secondary to the end zone. Will the ball be caught? Maybe not, but are you willing to let these 2 receivers get behind your safeties?
They are going to make you commit a CB and a safety to both Ginn and Brown for bracket coverage. If you put 8 in the box, they now go deep to the side of the field your safety is not favoring. Ginn and Brown will smoke just about any CB deep (mind you I am not saying they can catch the ball).
Here is the end game. They open up the running game. They open up Cam Newton to scramble to the sideline if the DL is undisciplined. They will use the read option to catch the safeties cheating and then drop back to pass while showing the read option - letting it fly deep to Ginn or Brown. They now have Funchess and Olsen teamed up against smaller DBs and LBs for outs to the sideline or crossing over the middle. This is what they want as a second and third read. They can insert Cotchery or Norwood to find holes in zone from a 4 WR set - especially if you spy Cam.
Olsen and Funchess underneath with Brown and Ginn blowing off the top of the defense is their goal when they go to the passing game. They want you to man cover these 2 underneath with a LB or smaller DB. These WRs may not be dangerous as individuals, but when you look at how you can use a combination of 3 or 4 of them with their strengths to work a defense, then it becomes a concern.
Oh yeah? Well here's my Madden scheme.
Ginn and Philly Brown are trash, so i'll just let Aaron Colvin, McCray and Sergio deal with those trash cans. There's no need to panic for these washed up, mediocre receivers.
I'll load the box up and let Poz do his magic shutting down your scary (loljk) running back! Boom, your running game is shut down. There's no way play-action works now and there's definitely ZERO chance those two scrubs burn our secondary without it.
Here is the end game. Cam gets desperate and tries to target Olsen numerous times, but no one knew 6'3 Telvin Smith can run faster than him and this is a cakewalk for him. Not to mention he is being double teamed the entire time.
Cam now realizes he has to work his read option magic, but no one really cares about Stewart running the ball anymore, so they all target Cam no matter what. Odrick and Ryan Davis sit on his face and Cam starts throwing hissy fits.
It's 3rd and long, so Cam tries to throw it up to Philly Cheese Streak, but he can't come down with it cause he SUCKS. HA! :woot:
4th and long and Cam just runs cause he knows his receivers are useless, but BAM, out of nowhere Chris Clemons grabs the yogurt boy and slams him to the turf. Cam is embarrassed as a player, but more importantly the Panthers can't believe they just lost to the Jags. He goes to the sidelines, pops a piece of gum in his mouth and wraps his gatorade towel around his head. Reality sets in and they realize there's no way they get to 11-5 as predicted, especially with Philly Ginn Jr.
