lots of presure on gus,and Jags this year

CSO, I couldn't express how much I agree with your stance on this unfathomably forgiving fanbase. This year, let's aspire to 6-10 as the standard, next year we break even. The level of ill confidence and fear to dream big is bewildering. You are FANS, you do not play. Wish for 19-0 if you want, and be considered unrealistic, and dumb like some of us.

I think I've been misconstrued a bit. I'm predicting a record of 8-8 for the team as I feel the team should aspire to break even so they're no longer looked at as a team with a losing record. I'm also sure things will look ugly in Duval should they only go 6-10 and that doing so would put Gus on the heat seat for 2016. That said, Khan will surely understand that six wins represents an improving team, and is not about to blow up the team again should they only reach six wins. It's been many years since the team has even won that many. Getting rid of Gus after a six win season would mean starting over again with several more years of losing. Why would anyone want to go there? At five wins they may simply have to start over to get their arrow pointed up again, but six is enough to say progress is being made and to keep striving for more. We want more!

I know you're also talking about me saying I'd be happy if they start 1-3. In my mind that's just being a realist looking at the schedule, and what I fear the most is an 0-4 start. The Patriots and Colts have long had the Jaguars number and appear to be as strong as ever, the Panthers won their division last year with most league experts ranking their defense in the top five, and the Dolphins have moved into the ranks of being a legitimate contender. I hate to sound like a negative Nancy, but I just feel fans should temper their expectations out of the gate. With any luck, playing these formidable teams will make the Jaguars all that much better for the remaining twelve games.

ABOUT US
The Jungle Forums is the Jaguars' biggest fan message board. Talking about the Jags since 2006, the Jungle was the team-endorsed home of all things Jaguars.

Since 2017, the Jungle is now independent of the team but still run by the same crew. We are here to support and discuss all things Jaguars and all things Duval!
