Exactly.  We act like the fact he hasn't lost them means that he still has a chance to be Vince Lombardi.  The only reason he hasn't lost them is because he doesn't make them accountable.  What player wouldn't love a coach that just makes them feel justified every time they don't perform?  Very few pro players love a coach that holds their feet to the fire when they underperform.
