I figured out who Bortles reminds me of.

Quote:David Garrard. Thoughts? I kind of see what you mean in that he is hard to tackle a big guy whom can run but he's not super fast yet he is evasive and able to get the first down with his legs when he choses to run. I think Blake Bortles is faster than DG & more elusive but DG was stronger and harder to tackle more like Big Ben & Garrad like Big Ben usually stayed in the pocket avoiding the tackle for the throw instead of Bortles whom usually runs for the 1st down on most occasions. I think Blake has a better arm than David Garrard for the deep passes but DG was better with vision on short... I dont really like to compare QBs to other guys because it isnt often that they are 100% like one guy or the other... and it takes away what that person did or can do.. I don't think I've ever seen a guy exactly like Blake Bortles but he actually reminds me of Brett Favre (Blake's idol by the way, which would make sense if he grew up wanting to be like him). He tends to throw risky passes just like he runs trying to make something out of nothing but the difference being that Brett had more talent around him & Brett had more talent period. But Brett also learned on the Bench Im pretty sure his rookie year unlike Blake whom was thrown in the mix. Both are likeable tough guys that put it all on them and dont blame anyone else, guys that are built like a LB and not afraid to get hit either by a defender or the press... Yeah both threw a lot of picks almost as much as TDs... but Brett had a knack of winning it when it really counted towards the end of the game he could will his team to win which Blake wants to do but hasnt quite figured it out yet... Give Blake time he's only in his 2nd year I told people whom were too quick to praise after last week that he is going to have ups and downs this year less than he did as a rookie but still many ups and downs... one only hopes he stays healthy and learns in the process so that its more ups than downs... |
