One negative could be that all the good prospective head coaching candidates would think,

 

"I may have a 4 year contract, but in reality, I only have less than 2-1/2 years.   That's what they gave Bradley, in spite of the fact that they tore that team down to the studs and started over.   I might have even less time since it is now perceived to be a much better roster.   Naaah.  I'll pass."   

 

I'm just being a devil's advocate.
