Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (race for the #1 overall pick)

(This post was last modified: 11-21-2013, 07:38 PM by lvseahawk.)

Let's keep in mind that Seattle kept a tight leash on Russell Wilson last year, right up until after mid-season when they finally took the training wheels off. Up to that point, RW was playing in a vanilla offense and hardly throwing the ball. Russell Wilson still went on to tie Peyton Manning for the rookie TD record, was the first rookie along side RG3 in league history with a quarterback rating over 100, won Seattle's first playoff road game since 1983, and used his arm to lead a 4th quarter comeback against the Atlanata Falcons, only to have our defense lose the game in the final 38 seconds.

This season, he has played without both bookend tackles the majority of the year. Pro-bowl LT Russell Okung went down in week 2, RT Gacomini the week after. Compound that with our Pro-bowl center battling an arm injury, and later a concussion, and Russell Wilson has played with a patchwork offensive line almost the entire season.

To give you perspective on what Russell Wilson is playing with, J.R. Sweezy, our starting RG, is a converted DT and was a 7th round pick last season, Sweezy had never played a snap at OL up until last year. Bowie, who filled in at RT, is a rookie 7th round pick. McQuistan, who filled in at LT, was our starting RG, and a complete turnstile at LT.

Add to that Zach Miller, our high priced TE being asked to block almost every down, and it's a miracle that Russell Wilson is having the season he is.

Andrew Luck is a mobile QB, but there is no way that you put him behind that OL and he wins 10 games and has over a 60% completion pct.
