I never understood the "Andrew Luck led a 2-14 team back to the playoffs" mantra. The year before, they were a 10-6 team with a broken down Manning. Put Curtis Painter behind center on any NFL team and you would be lucky to win 2 games, regardless of the talent around him. Essentially, the record of the Indianapolis Colts team that year was not a reflection of talent, but a reflection of their QB depth.

 

With that said, I don't think Andrew Luck inherited as bad a team as most people think. Does Russell Wilson have a Reggie Wayne to throw to? Sidney Rice has been a shell of his former self ever since arriving to Seattle, so that rules him out. Golden Tate? Explosive, but not a #1 receiver. Doug Baldwin? Slot guy, sure hands, but not a #1 receiver.

 

To answer your question, Andrew Luck acquired two weapons in Coby Fleener and T.Y. Hilton in his draft class to go along side Reggie Wayne. This year, the team acquired Trent Richardson.

 

Everyone says that RW has the better team, I'll give them that, but it's on the defensive side of the ball. Outside of Marshawn Lynch, RW has made the receiving core of Seattle look better than they are, and shattered records while doing so without a #1 receiver.
