If you can remember the notes, the bends, the cadence, the theme and composition of the music, then it's probably a good solo.  One poster has said he's not really into the guitar.  I can respect that.  What I don't get is trumping up a solo because the muscian is very good, or disparaging another because you think the band is lame.

 

I think Poison is a lame band.  But if you can remember every note of the solo from "Talk Dirty to Me", and turn the volume up when it comes on, hey, more power to you and CC DeVille!

 

There's a reason why Lou Reed's live version of "Sweet Jane" is up there, and none of Satriani's or Vai's work made the list.

 

I mentioned Damn Yankees, citing the solo in their song "Come again" but it wasn't Tommy Shaw, it was Ted Nugent. Shaw just plays rhythm guitar in that band,  IIRC. Nugent does all lead. 

 

as for the other....I can remember every note of the solo for "Talk Dirty to me" ...does that mean its a good solo??.... :ermm:  That said, CC is a sloppy player, thats my complaint regarding his guitar work as well as some of it being too simplistic. There was a few high notes for CC DeVille however....I think his solo on "Something To Believe in" was actually pretty good.  Solo begins @ 2:50
