The two positions are more similar than different. Both cover wide receivers and tight ends. Both have to chase down ball carriers. Both intercept passes. What is different? Their positions on the field more than anything.

They are VERY different, coming from a former college FS. CB is much different than safety, some players play both well but it's not something a DB can switch back and fourth with. That's why safeties get a lot of praise when they can go man coverage, it's not something most safeties can do. Not gonna go into much detail because it would take forever, but in my opinion its harder to play CB, that's why u see some CBs move to safety but u almost never see a safety move to CB.
