Also, system guys are great for a team as it can lower their overall value on the open market if they play a certain scheme that isn't in need of depth in free agency.

Last thing, in order to actually go the distance and win a superbowl you need to build through the draft until you think you are ready for a shot.. at that point you fill whatever crucial positions you need with FA hopefully landing the final piece in the puzzle to get you there. Caldwell has been extremely savvy so far with budget/cap control.. he could have offered alot more last year for some players and we would have a slightly better team this year but why sign huge contracts for players if your base isnt ready. NO SUH
