Jaguars still seen as joke by media?

(This post was last modified: 01-13-2016, 07:23 PM by D6.)

Quote:Exactly, any major city these days are gonna have really nice spots and then spots that god has forsaken.

Unfortunately for Detroit, they hit the antithesis of the lottery. I'm not sure there is any "nice" spot of Detroit.

But hey, I could even be wrong about that. We need D6's input on this one...

Detroit has a number of nice spots,  when you factor in entertainment and / or places to live.   Downtown Detroit has the Greektown and Foxtown entertainment areas.    The Riverfront Area has seen real estate value go up substantially in the last 20 years or so.   Midtown is another good entertainment area and has Wayne St.  University.   There are some decent to good neighbors in the city.   There's no question that a large part of Detroit is run down to put it mildly.  The same can be said for every U.S. city,  though Detroit has a higher % of run down areas compared to most cities

When one looks at an area,  the entire Metropolitan Area should be included.   When it is,  the Detroit area has a very good combination of entertainment,  restaurants,  and home options.   Bloomfield Hills and Grosse Pointe don't take a back seat to the expensive real estate neighborhoods around the U.S.   The Detroit area by itself has a professional sports team in the 4 major U.S. sports,  a high quality zoo,  and some great museums,    It's a great outdoors area in warmer weather.   The various lakes provide many recreational options.   It's also a very good golf area.   If Southwestern Ontario and the Ann Arbor Market is included,   there's that much more to offer.

My preference is the focus being on NFL Owners like Stan Kroenke and Jerry Jones that endanger the majority of future of NFL teams in their current locations.    If they had their way,  ultimately the NFL would be in many international cities where there's more money to be made compared.   London would be only a step to making this a jet setting league.    Though I greatly enjoy and respect competition and rivalries on the field  ( my favorite Lions games are against the other 3 NFC North teams ),  when it comes to the survival of the majority of NFL teams in their current markets,  unity is far better than pitting one city/ area against the other.
