The use of emerging technologies will always be leveraged by governments until strict guidelines can be established. At one time I'm sure the use of phone taps was considered a technological marvel that had to be controlled.

Bundling all this together is the omnipresent factor of terrorism. Intelligence indicates that terrorists are planning to strike other means of transportation modes besides the airlines. Would you rather the TSA take a wait and see approach? We're dealing with a threat unparalleled in American history. Certain extraordinary measures must be taken. I can assure you, the leadership and the rank and file of the intelligence and security organizations that carry out these measures have no desire to see their own people controlled and herded for some nebulous dark purpose.
