Think of a better and slightly young version of Skuta. Irvin can play the run well enough, he has the speed and ability to drop into coverage, and he provides a much better pass rush. He's actually someone the opponents have to take note of where he is on the field because of his versatility as opposed to Skuta who is a solid player, but nothing special. Irvin is practically everything Gus wants in an OTTO.

 

Adding Irvin should likely move Skuta into more of a role player/backup role as he can come in on some blitz packages or just stick his hand in the dirt and rush the passer a bit. Just based off of our current personnel and Irvin, I could see a line on 3rd and long of Skuta-Fowler-Marks-Irvin to get after the QB.

 

Edit: Just for reference NFL.com lists him as the 5th best free agent, ProFootballTalk lists him at 3rd, and SBNation 9th.
