You can find starting QBs outside of round 1. However, the odds of the QB taken in later rounds becoming a successful NFL QB drops considerably compared to round 1 caliber prospects. Later drafted QBs such as Brady, Wilson, and Foles are the outliers, and absolutely not the norm. Here was a good study...
