If he's not ready, the only way to keep Rodgers from exploiting him is keeping him on the bench.  Otherwise, Rodgers will burn him no matter which receiver he is covering.  It's not a matter of "rushing" him.

 

The question is can he play or not?

 

If he can play, with his physical tools, there is no reason NOT to put him on Nelson-other than the defense/offensive formation mandates it.

 

"Protecting" a CB who isn't ready or lacks the ability to perform against the likes of Aaron Rodgers is a fool's errand and an exercise in futility.
